I love working with my hands whether it be woodworking or welding. I am happy to run my own business from my Alabama workshop building items from scratch out of wood and metal. My first products were cutting boards made from hardwoods. Unfortunately, after the COVID-19 pandemic hardwoods became scarce and expensive in our area. We have 5 cats in our home so I started making things for our cats like cat scratching posts and pads with sisal rope to save our furniture. I enjoy improving living spaces so when we needed to organize our kitchen and entryway, I built a spice rack and a coat rack for added storage in our home and added them to my Etsy store. The products I sell are handmade by me in my workshop from materials I handpick to ensure the best quality at a reasonable price.
The name, Elk Home Goods, derives from my last name Elkhatib which is Lebanese. My father comes from a long line of artisans from Lebanon where it is common to make things by hand from natural materials. They spend their entire lives perfecting their crafts.
